Situated in historic Devonport, the hotel is a short walk away from the car ferry to Torpoint and is close to the passenger ferry heading into Cornwall to Mount Edgecombe from Cremyll. Devonport is a historic part of Plymouth with many old buildings and sites of great interest.
Devonport station is also a short walk away and has regular train trips into Plymouth city centre. It also serves as an ideal base to visit Saltash, Looe and Polperro and the rest of South East Cornwall. There are also regular trips to the Bere Peninsula and Calstock each day which is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Plymouth has a wide variety of shops, cafes, restaurants, cinemas and theatres, an includes the historic Barbican where you can stand on the Mayflower Steps where the first travelers to America sailed from. Across the footbridge is the National Marine Aquarium which is well worth a visit particularly to explore the underwater world of Scylla on the webcams. On the Hoe is Plymouth Dome where you can experience the history of Plymouth for yourself.
A short drive out of Plymouth is Dartmoor National Park - ideal for a drive or a walk. The rugged granite tours and wild ponies make Dartmoor a very special place indeed - and there are plenty of places to stop for a drink or pub lunch.
Situated in Whitsand Bay just a short drive away or accessible by boat utlising a local slipway is the National Marine Aquarium's Dive Scylla site. The Former Royal Navy Frigate which was built in Devonport has been scuttled to provide a fantastic venue for diving and marine research. Divers can access her superstructure and all her 4 decks. Highlights include the captain's cabin, the bridge, living accommodation, mess decks, galley, operations room and engine room.
An hour's drive into Cornwall is the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Both popular attractions and well worth visiting when in the Westcountry.
